Gertrude Evadean Groff Handy

  Diary

  1924

Marion Davis (my niece) & Veba Black were married on Nov. 29, 1924.  Edison Handy  (my first cousin) and Freida From (a college classmate of mine) were married Sept. 2, 1924.  Herbert & I were their attendants.   During Easter vacation on April, 1924, Bertha and Iva Robinson, Alma Miller and I went on a trip to Washington, D.  C.  Herbert skidded logs while the East Creek dam was being built in 1924.  One time he & Frank Sleezer with their light teams pulled a large log, which none of the other bigger teams had been able to move.  Herbert got this job so that he could earn money to buy my engagement ring, which he gave me in 1924.   I taught school at Fort Plain from Sept., 1923 – June, 1925.
