1922 Diary
Antoinette Burkdorf, daughter of John and Gertrude (Klock) Burkdorf, was born on 28 September 1956 in Oppenheim, Fulton County, New York. Antoinette married Fayette Groff (29 January 1853 - 2 February 1935), son of Benjamin and Lany Ann (Smith) Groff on 8 September 1875 in Oppenheim, New York. Fayette was buried in Fair View Cemetery, Handy Hills Farm, St. Johnsville, New York. Antoinette and Fayette had four children, Lucinda, Floyd Benjamin, a daughter who died at birth, and Gertrude Evadean Groff. Antoinette died on 10 July 1935 in St. Johnsville, Montgomery County, New York. She was buried next to her husband. Antoinette has left quite a number of descendants. From two of her four children, there have been four grandchildren (all deceased), 13 great-grandchildren (2 deceased), 35 great-great-grandchildren (my generation), 33 g-g-g-grandchildren, and 12 g-g-g-g-grandchildren that I know of!

Fayette and I took Dr Fake to church, he came as far as here with his auto. We had communion. Ralph Merlon and Chauncey joined church.

Ironed. Fayette went down after Floyd, didn’t get home until 5:30. Emmett went over to Eugene’s and stayed all night.

The men commenced putting in ice. John Davis came over after dinner. Had a letter from Evadean and one from Loami. Rained all night. Eleanor had a boy.

Floyd and Emmett drawed a load off wood in the afternoon they went down to the foundry and brought up some lumber.

Floyd drawed two loads of wood, Floyd went down to the club meeting at Henrys.

Went to church. Dr Fake came with his auto.

Washed, went down to Henrys in the afternoon and stayed until after eleven o clock the men finished cutting the ice that was on the pond.

Ironed. Floyd finished drawing wood. Emmett stayed all night.

Went to W. A. Handys to the missionary society. Floyd ground wheat and brought up some coal.

Was a little warmer today. I did not feel well the rest went to the grange, wasant enough there to have a meeting. Cut in the six gall- jar of butter today.

I washed, and hung the clothes out of doors. We all went over to G. B. Zimerman’s in the evening. Mildred was home.

Rev. Frank Jones and bride came. Was married Thursday twelve a clock. The girls went to the club to H Burkdorfs. We went to Dolgeville in the evening.

Edith went to Little Falls Hospital today. Had an operation for appendicitis.

Floyd and I went up in the evening to see Edith, held her hands and kissed her for the last time, the dear girl.

We all went up to the hospital except Evadean and myself. We all went up to Mr. Davises awhile. Mildred was down to see Edith.

Received word this morning that Edith was worse. She passed away nine a clock.

The funeral was today. 89 automobiles and two wagons was here. We took her to Truxton, got there about seven. Stayed all night at Mr. Beards.

Came home today took dinner with Lucindas. Got home four a clock. Marjorie and Nina kept house.
