June 19, 1964

Herbert & I attended the Jr. Prom. The Jr. Class gave me boidoir alarm clock & corsage.

June 21, 1964

I attended the graduation at Fort Plain. I went to Helen Gudlewski’s graduation party and to Marie Hilton’s party.

June 23, 1964

Hazel Trumbull & I went to the reception for Kathy Marte. We called on Helen Duggleby.

June 24, 1964

I wrote letters to Ruth Burritt & Joanne. We were invited down for Marta’s birthday but didn’t go as Herbert didn’t feel well.

June 26, 1964

We attended grange meeting. I won 2nd prize in coffee cake contest.

June 27, 1964

I went to the library. I took my watch & pearl beads to be repaired.

June 28, 1964

We went to church & S. S. We took Marion to dinner at Palatine Bridge for her birthday. Then Marion & I went to call on Flo Chase.

June 29, 1964

I write letter to Grace Drake & a sympathy card to Pete & Esther. Mrs. Maiura had died.

June 30, 1964

I called on Theresa & Ethel.

July

July 1, 1964

Attended missionary meeting at Lina Thodes. Had “bring & buy” sale for parsonage friend.

July 3, 1964

I called on funeral parlor. Mr. Wood had died. Hazel T. and I called on Hannah King.

July 4, 1964

We had picnic dinner here. Keith’s family, Alma Miller & Fred, Michael & Eva Thode were here. Janice, Marta, Alma & I called on Marcia Mumma. We went to ice cream social at Fort Klock.

July 5, 1964

After church we went to the Palatine Nursing Home to see Clarence Duggleby, Elena Moyer & Mary Schell.

July 6, 1964

We sent wedding present to Elizabeth Gray Znrich. We ate lunch with Margaret & Clarence. Ira & Edith Timmerman & Herbert & I took up the carpet in the Snells Bush Church.

July 7, 1964

I wrote to G. Lance & sent card to John Keddy.

July 8, 1964

I went to the parsonage & helped Lina Thode & Mary Groff paper all day. There was a bad rain storm in C. Creek.

July 9, 1964

I went with E. Reese, Lulu R. and Clyde Fitzer to the Pomona Grange meeting at Bleecker. Ethel won the county coffee-cake contest

July 11, 1964

I went to card party at Crum Creek grange. I took Libbie S., Katie Richards & Lulu R.

July 12, 1964

After church Herbert & I went to Vernon. We didn’t find Betty or Esther at home. So we called on Bernice & Roy Williams. Mr. & Mrs. Whitener came to see Hampton their son, who worked for us.

July 13, 1964

The Directors meeting of the S. T. Z. Reunion was held here.

July 14, 1964

We went to Schenectady to Freida Handy’s funeral. We went to the cemetery at Jonesville. Then we called on Philip & Iva Wendell. I took Lulu and Helen Glenar to a jewelry party at the Grange Hall.

July 15, 1964

I went to F. Plain to have my hair set. I did the ironing in the forenoon.

July 18, 1964

I took Janice, Marta & Karen to Sacandaga Bible Conference. Karen, Alyson, Larry, George, Anita & Rebecca were there to stay a week.

July 19, 1964

Alma Miller & I went to St. Johnsville to church. Then we took Keith Herbert out to 4-H camp at Speculator. We came back by Pine Lake. We had a good trip.

July 21, 1964

The D. A. R. picnic was held here. There were 18 of us. We ate on the front porch.

July 22, 1964

Doris Gibney and her younger son, Philip, spent the afternoon here. Mr Dallen and another man came to check up on the farm cadets. Hazel T. called in the evening.

July 24, 1964

Rachel & Burt, Trudie & Candy and Doris were here for dinner & the evening.

July 26, 1964

We went to church & S. S. In the evening we went to Dolgeville to see Mildred & Will Thresher.

July 27, 1964

Alma & I went with Floyd & Alta Weaver after blue berries. We stayed for supper. Hazel & Bob & George were there also.

July 28, 1964

I went to have my hair done. I was there early on account of going to the bank, so I read in the park.

I took Karen & Alyson for a ride. We called on Margaret & Clarence Beekman.

I went to the court house at Johnstown to look at Census Records. I visited the Historical Soc. building.

I sent birthday gift to Gordon. We went to grange meeting. Mrs. Van Allen showed slides of N. Y. state.

August 1, 1964

Hazel T. and I went to Gloversville to see Bessie Gottung in the hospital. Then we went to call on Genie Christman.

August 2, 1964

We went to church at 10:30. In the P. M. we went to Janice Oldick’s for Loyd & Kate Smiths 50th wedding anniversary. We called on Gertrude & Marie Hilton.

August 5, 1964

I went to the grange hall for covered dish supper & meeting of the Missionary Society.

August 8, 1964

I called on Marilyn Watkins. I bought 3 wedding presents. I stopped to see Hazel & Bessie, who had come home from the hospital that morning. I took Alma, Katie Shuster, E. Shulenberg & Lulu R. to the C. Creek card party.

August 9, 1964

We went to church. After dinner we went to Franklin to see Grace & Agnes Drake. We also called on Agnes & Sinclair Ward.

August 10, 1964

In the evening we went to Ortlieles after a machinary repair part.

August 11, 1964

We went to C. Creek to pick a few blackberries & apples.

August 12, 1964

Herbert & I called on Ethel & Therese and then went to see Flo Chase & family.

Edith Timmerman & I went to Fonda to work on geneology.

August 14, 1964

Mildred & Bill Thresher & Muriel & Eliott Ireland were here in the evening. We played 6-handed pinochle.

August 15, 1964

Herbert & I attended the St. Johnsville Alumni Banquet at Nick Stoner Inn. We went to Marilyn Tabors wedding at 11:30.

August 16, 1964

We attended church. Then Alta & Floyd were here for dinner.

We canned peaches.

Janice & Keith had Marion Groff, Joanne’s family and us down there for dinner at night.

August 22, 1964

Alta & I went to Amsterdam to get our eyes examined. Herbert & I went to Corrine Bowerman’s wedding.

August 23, 1964

We attended church. Then we had for dinner Mr. & Mrs. Stuart Steves, aunt Genevieve Handy & Joanne’s family and Flo Chase.

August 24, 1964

We canned pears. Then we went down & helped Janice can pears.

August 25, 1964

We worked at the Snells Bush church. I went to hair dresser. Then we were invited for dinner at Margaret & Clarence Beekman.

Aunt Genevieve & I called on Hazel Trumbull.

August 27, 1964

We went over to see Flo Chase in the evening. We called on Ethel Handy & stayed for supper.

August 28, 1964

Genevieve & I went up to the old place. I picked a few blackberries. We attended grange meeting.

We went to see the eye doctor again. James Thomas went home.

August 30, 1964

We attended the Snell, Zimmerman, Timmerman Reunion. The church looked very nice after the repairs. The refinished floors were beautiful.

September 3, 1964

Flo took aunt Genevieve, Mrs. Raddner & me to dinner at the Canajoharie Hotel. Aunt G. stayed all night with Flo.

September 4, 1964

Flora Saltsman & I went to the Fonda Fair. It was very good.

September 5, 1964

Aunt G. & I rode over to Sauquoit. We did not find Albert & Calla Getman at home.

September 6, 1964

We went to church. Then we called on Harold Handy & family. Gary & Joanne were there.

September 7, 1964

We went up to see Esther & Pete Maiura in their new farm home. Harold & Josephine Lundgren were there, but went to Betty’s for dinner. Leland & Iva Bellinger called in the evening.

September 8, 1964

We went to get our hair done. We worked on getting things ready for the luncheon.

September 9, 1964

We had the following here for the afternoon & luncheon at 5. Flo Chase, Alma Miller, Ruth Sheffield, Hazel T, Alta, Marion Groff, Janice & Marta, aunt Genevieve.

We went on a picnic with Alta & Floyd & Gordon.

September 11, 1964

We went to grange meeting. It was election of officers.

Aunt G. & I called on Beulah Sanders. We went on a picnic with Alta, Floyd & Gordon.

September 13, 1964

Aunt G. & I went to church at St. Johnsville. Hazel T. took us to dinner at Fort Plain. Then we took aunt G. to the Albany airport. We called on Janet Kilpatrick on the way back.

September 14, 1964

I took Ethel Haig to see her brother, Harold, at the Johnstown Hospital.

September 15, 1964

I went to covered dish supper and D. A. R. meeting.

September 16, 1964

Alta & I went to a luncheon at Alma Miller’s. There were six of us present.

September 17, 1964

I went with 4 women from St. J. to D. A. R. luncheon at Canajoharie Hotel. They had a beautiful antique show.

September 20, 1964

After church we took Etta & Charles Allen for a ride up north to see the trees. The foliage was beautiful.

September 21, 1964

Ferne, Alta & Floyd & Marion Groff took dinner with us at the old place. We picked apples.

September 22, 1964

I helped paint at the parsonage. I went to the hairdresser’s.

September 23, 1964

I went out to collect Grange dues. I ate supper with Ferne & Cecil. Alta & Floyd were there also.

September 25, 1964

We attended Grange meeting.

September 26, 1964

Hazel T. & I went to Lutheran supper.

September 27, 1964

Henry Johnson preached his trial sermon. We all liked him. Dean Andrew was born about 11 A. M.

I went up to L. Falls Hospital to see Janice and the baby.

I helped down at Keiths. Hazel T. & I went up to the hospital again.

October 1, 1964

I substituted for Mr. Dunvells at Fort Plain High School. I enjoyed it a lot.

October 3, 1964

I helped on the Election Board. I saved on articles for the missionary project. I went to the card party at C. Creek.

October 4, 1964

We went to church & S. S. Herbert & I ate dinner at Fort Plain.

October 5, 1964

I went with Lynn & Gladys Sickler to Oneonta. Gladys & I attended the retired teachers’ luncheon at the country club.

October 6, 1964

I did the washing & canned pears. I ironed for Janice.

October 7, 1964

I made “pear jubilee”. I went to the St. J. library. I attended the missionary meeting at Ralph Groff’s.

October 9, 1964

We had grange meeting. I had program & exhibit on “wood”.

October 11, 1964

After church I went over to see Flo Chase.

October 12, 1964

I went up to the old house in C. Creek. Floyd, Alta, Clark Burkdorf, Larry, Gordon, Jane, Karen & Ann were there for dinner.

October 13, 1964

I drove to missionary conference at Albany. Lina, Marion, Alta & Margaret Mosher went with me. We called on Gertrude Davis.

October 14, 1964

I worked at the parsonage all day. I helped the pastor settle his “study”.

October 15, 1964

We went to Loterele for triple installation of the grange officers.

October 16, 1964

I did the washing and some sewing.

October 17, 1964

I took Karen, Debbie & Beth to Juvenile grange meeting. I helped Edith Groff with her ironing. I went to the card party at Crum Creek.

October 18, 1964

Mr. Johnson preached. He had moved into the parsonage on the previous Wed. Herbert & I ate supper at Fort Plain.

October 19, 1964

I went to hairdresser’s. I did the ironing in the P. M. I went to hooked rug class in the evening.

October 20, 1964

I was on the D. A. R. supper committee. I made the soup. Everything went off well.

October 21, 1964

I spent the afternoon working at the library on the Community Service Project.

October 22, 1964

It was a cloudy day. I sewed on the Dorcas Project garments.

October 23, 1964

Herbert and I went over to see Elbert and Calla Getman. It was a nice sunshiny day to go.

October 24, 1964

Edith Timmerman & I attended the Study Class luncheon at the Reformed Church. In the evening Herbert & I went to a supper at Lassellsville. Then we went to see Alta & Floyd Weaver.

October 25, 1964

After church we went to call on the Cronkhites. Clifford Wentworth died in the night.

October 26, 1964

Keith went to Rochester to attend the State Grange for the week.

October 27, 1964

I drove in the funeral procession to S. Glens Falls. Mrs. W., Alta, Mrs. Keba & Miss Fairbanks rode with me.

October 30, 1964

We went to Grange meeting. We went to funeral parlor in Fonda to see Harold Haig.

We attended the card party at the Grange Hall.

November 1, 1964

After church we called on Edith Groff and on Elizabeth Wentworth.

November 3, 1964

Herbert worked on Election Board from 6-10:30. I called on Marion Groff in the evening.

November 4, 1964

I substituted for Mr. Silfer. We went with the Thodes to Pastor Johnson’s ordination at Hudson.

November 5, 1964

I took Keith, Lulu R. and Ethel Reese to Pomona Grange meeting at Mayfield. I called on Ruth Sheffield.

November 6, 1964

Herbert helped me cut cardboard & then I went over to work in the library in the P. M.

November 7, 1964

I attended Study Class meeting at Mrs. Richards.

November 8, 1964

There were 50 at church today. We called on Perry Streed who had moved into the old house at Crum Creek, and on Lee & Thelma Safford. Hazel Trumbull was here for supper.

November 9, 1964

I cleaned cupboards in the kitchen. Went over to see Flo & Mae Chase in the afternoon.

November 11, 1964

We moved Marion’s things to St. J.

November 13, 1964

I took Janice, Marta & Dean up to see Edith Groff.

November 14, 1964

I took children to Juvenile Grange. I went up to see Alta. I went to card party at night.

November 15, 1964

We went to church & S. S. We went to St. J. to pastor Johnson’s installation. I poured at the reception.

November 16, 1964

I worked at housecleaning and made 2 kinds of cookies.

November 17, 1964

I went for hair appointment. I attended D. A. R. meeting. Then I reported for hooked rug class at F. Plain.

November 18, 1964

I had a Stanley party here in the evening.

November 19, 1964

I sewed on dresses for the Dorcas Project. Marion was here for dinner.

November 20, 1964

I called on Marion in the afternoon. I washed in the forenoon.

November 21, 1964

The men moved the wax plant down here. I attended the Study Class meeting at John Fox’s. It snowed a little.

November 22, 1964

We attended church & S. S.

November 24, 1964

I taught school for Mr. Silfer.

November 25, 1964

I taught in the forenoon for Mr. Dunnells. I got ready for Thanksgiving. I went over to Chases after the Stanley products. We went to the Thanksgiving Service at the Reformed church.

November 26, 1964

Joanne & Family, Keith & family, and Alta & Floyd were here for Thanksgiving.

November 27, 1964

Joanne, Gordon & the child and I called on Marion Groff.

November 28, 1964

Joannes went to Loudonville. Keith attended officers meeting at Mayfield Grange.

November 29, 1964

We attended church & also the Advent Service at the Lutheran Church.

December

December 2, 1964

I attended missionary meeting at Lina Thode’s & led the meeting.

December 4, 1964

It was a very severe ice storm. We were only without power 6 hrs. The men finished milking at 1:30 A. M.

December 6, 1964

We attended church & the Advent Service at the Methodist Church.

December 7, 1964

Marion Groff & I worked 2 hrs. at the library. I went to hooked rug class in the evening.

December 8, 1964

Herbert & I went to Herkimer to shop. We stopped to see Jennie Brown.

December 9 & 10, 1964

I worked on wrapping Christmas presents and writing cards.

December 11, 1964

I served on the supper committee for the community Club. I attended Mrs. Egra Dillenback’s funeral. Grange meeting canceled because of slippery roads.

December 12, 1964

I attended Christmas meeting of the Study Class.

December 13, 1964

We attended church & Advent Service at the Grace Comm. Church. We brought Marion home to have supper with us.

December 14, 1964

I worked at the Grange hall helped prepare the supper for the Dairyman’s League. Another snow storm.

December 16, 1964

Fred Harlow started picking corn on the hill and got his finger caught in the machine. Herbert took him to the doctor’s and then to the hospital to have it dressed.

December 19, 1964

We had the Juvenile Subordinate Grange covered dish supper & Christmas party. Herbert and I put up the Christmas tree in the grange Hall and decorated it.

December 20, 1964

We went to church and then called on Fred Harlow and his family.

December 21, 1964

Herbert didn’t feel well at all and was sick until Thursday. I baked Christmas cookies.

December 22, 1964

I baked date nut bread. We put up the Christmas tree.

December 23, 1964

I worked at the Grange Hall part of the day. I called on Emma Rubert and on Ethel & Theresa. We had the church supper in the evening. Pastor Johnson showed his slides of the Holy Land.

December 24, 1964

We went to Janice & Keith’s for supper. We opened our presents. Then we went to Candlelight Service at St. Johnsville.

December 25, 1964

We delivered bread & cookies & called on Mrs. Shults, Edith Groff, Elizabeth Wentworth, Perry Streed, Grace Youker. Alma Miller, Herbert & I spent the rest of Christmas Day with Alta & Floyd.

December 26, 1964

We were down at Keith’s for supper for his birthday.

December 27, 1964

We went to church. Then we called on Eleanor & Fancher, and at Margaret & Clarences.

December 28, 1964

We were invited up to Carlsons for dinner. We went to Grange meeting, where we put on the 1st and 2nd degrees.

December 29, 1964

I went to the hair dresser’s. I crocheted on my table cloth.
