January 1, 1979
We had our relatives here for New Year’s Day. We had a very good time. The children were very nice.
January 2, 1979
In the evening we went to St. J. to the Funeral Parlor in Center St. Raymond Stowell was dead. He looked very natural. The L. C. W. met here in P. M.
January 6, 1979
We thought we might go to auction, but decided we better stay at home, as the snow was blowing very hard.
January 7, 1979
We went up to Crum Creek to church. It was Communion. We were glad to get home as it was snowing very hard.
January 8, 1979
We did the washing. I worked on my bedspread. I also made some white bandages.
January 9, 1979
I did the ironing. In P. M. we went down to Berners. We played pinochle and she served refreshments.
January 11, 1979
Herbert, Keith, Clyde Fitzer and I went to Perth Pomona Grange meeting. It was very cold night, 22 below zero.
January 12, 1979
The pump froze. Bill Klemme & Keith R. thawed it out & fixed it. It was 2 A. M. when we went to bed.
January 13, 1979
Herbert worked on a drop leaf table. We worked a while on a large puzzle, which Juanita & Keith had given us for Christmas.
January 14, 1979
We did the washing. Herbert worked on the large puzzle & I worked on my quilt.
January 15, 1979
I did the ironing. I worked on my quilt.
January 16, 1979
We went with Keith & Janice & Wayne, up to Mohawk to the Applegot Funeral Parlor. Susan’s father was dead. He had 16 children, which are now living.
January 17, 1979
It was a stormy day. Herbert went down to the mailbox. We played Pinochle in the P. M.
January 18, 1979
I went to Fort Plain & had a permanent. Herbert went to Berners and & played Pinochle. It was a very cold day. We went to congregational meeting at Eddie & Mardis Bowers home.
January 19, 1979
It was a cold day. I worked on my bedspread & Herbert worked on a table & puzzle. He shoveled out the mailbox. Grace Crandef from Glens Falls called on phone. She is Uncle Erde’s daughter.
January 20, 1979
It was snowy weather.
January 21, 1979
Herbert walked down to the road and rode to church with Keith & Janice & family.
January 22, 1979
We did the washing. Herbert fixed the paper box, which had been broken by the snowplow.
January 27, 1979
I went up to Alta’s & spent the day. Herbert helped Tom & Karen move their things from where they had been living to a house near St. Johnsville.
January 30, 1979
I did the ironing. Herbert went to fix the tile around the tub in Karen’s & Tom’s house, at south St. Johnsville.
February 5, 1979
We went to Crum Creek to church. Then Keith & family came here for supper. We had a real nice time.
February 6, 1979
We did the washing. I started working on income tax.
February 7, 1979
I ironed in forenoon. Then we took I went to Leon Fredericks after some of our chairs. We stopped at the Big M and I bought a pair of blue & red slippers.
February 8, 1979
We went to Senior Citizens at St. J. We went in evening to Lenten Service at St. Johnsville.
February 9, 1979
We went after my raincoat, which was at the cleaners. Then we went to Berners and played Pinochle.
February 10, 1979
Keith R. and Keith H. came down here to saw lumber. Mr Klump brought the davenport, chair and 2 hassocks here, which he had upholstered.
February 11, 1979
Alta, Herbert & I went up to Esther’s in P. M. We had a good time. 4 of us played “Aggravation.” Herbert & I slept in the downstairs bedroom.
February 12, 1979
We left Esthers at 3:15 P. M. It was a nice drive home. Keith & family stopped here for a little while. Herbert & I played dominoes.
February 13, 1979
It was a very cold day. The pipes were frozen in the barn. Wayne came & thawed them out. I worked on making a cover for a dresser.
February 14, 1979
Wayne came again to thaw out pipes.
February 15, 1979
Extremely cold day. Wayne came & thawed out the pipes.
February 16, 1979
It was very cold and Herbert shut off the water pipe in the back toilet.
February 17, 1979
We went to the 65th anniversary party for Lester Rockefeller & his wife at the Lutheran church (downstairs).
February 18, 1979
We went to Crum Creek to church & then to Harold’s and Dorothy’s. As we were leaving there, I fell on the ice & hurt myself.
February 19, 1979
Herbert did the washing.
February 20, 1979
It was my 80th birthday. Keith & family, Keith Herbert & family, Tom & family and Patti were here. Gordon & Joanne called us on the phone.
February 21, 1979
It was a sunshiny day. Herbert went to F. Plain after groceries. In the evening, Marta & Dean, Keith R. & Patty were here & bought some articles. They brought fuel oil. Herbert went to Sheffield after some things.
March 1, 1979
We went to Ash Wed evening service at the St. Johnsville Lutheran church.
March 2, 1979
We went up to Harry Smith’s Funeral Parlor in evening. Alfred Reese looked very natural. Cyrus Potter did not look very natural. We would not have known him.
March 3, 1979
We went to Newman’s Auction. It was an ice day and we bought a lot of things.
March 4, 1979
We went to Crum Creek to Church. It was communion. We went early to the morning to a pancake breakfast in Ephratah. It was very good.
March 5, 1979
We did the washing. We got most of the things dried over the register.
March 6, 1979
I did the ironing. I marked & put away the things which we had bought at the auction.
March 7, 1979
The Hamiltons came down & got here around noon. We went to Fort Plain to see the ice damage. Then we ate lunch at Fort Plain.
